The Employment Pass (EP) is a work visa scheme designed for foreign professionals with specialised skills, managers, and company directors who want to work and live in Singapore. This work visa allows you to live and work in Singapore, as well as travel in and out of the country without having to apply for entry visas.
An Employment Pass is usually valid for 1-2 years and can be renewed after. Possessing an EP also enables you to apply for permanent residence (PR) in Singapore.
If you or your colleague(s) are planning to relocate to Singapore to work for the new Singapore company, GLAC will help to apply for an Employment Pass (EP) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
The Employment Pass is for foreign professionals who:
- Have a job offer in Singapore
- Earn a minimum fixed salary of S$3,600 per month. This usually applies to young graduates. More experienced candidates who apply for more senior positions may need higher salaries to qualify.
- Have acceptable qualifications, usually a good university degree, professional qualifications or specialised skills. Strong professional employment history and a high salary may compensate for a lack of formal qualifications.
Application for an Employment Pass is open to all nationalities. Do note that these are general guidelines. The authorities may review and make changes to the requirements at any time.
The Ministry of Manpower has provided a Self Assessment Tool to check a candidate’s eligibility for the Employment Pass. Although this tool generally is a good guideline, exceptions exist.
